My Cup is Full

Revelation 3:17

17 You say, “I am rich; I have acquired wealth and do not need a thing. “But you do not realize that you are wretched, pitiful, poor, blind and naked.

What is it about saying, “Thank you, Lord? I don’t need anything right now for I have everything I need in life (my cup is full)” that would be chastised in the eyes of God? You have your health, you are financially set, you are intellectually stimulated, you are physically fit, you are relationally connected, and you are spiritually filled. What is missing? Your cup is full. You don’t need anything from God at this time.

What happens when you begin to share some of what you have with another person? Your cup becomes a little empty, leaving room to be filled back up, which then you begin to seek God once again.

My friends pastor had a saying that I feel fits perfectly here to describe what God is trying to tell us in this scripture.  He said “God can’t get it to us if He can’t get it through us”. In other words, if we get our cup filled and do not share with others, we stop Gods flow. God’s plan was never to fill our cup and then to stop.

Psalms 23:5

You prepare a table before me
    in the presence of my enemies.
You anoint my head with oil;
    my cup overflows.

His intention was to overfill your cup, so you will share with others. “Love God and Love People” is His mission statement.

God finds great pleasure in blessing his children and then watching them bless someone else. He can’t wait until you share what you have with another, emptying your cup, so He can refill it. The best thing is that the more you give of yourself, the faster He refills you. But here comes the miracle. You will find God doesn’t stop at refilling your cup. No, He makes it overflow meaning not only will you have more than enough to give to others, but your cup will never be less than full.

How cool is that? Just try and out give God!
