We, as God’s children, should be confident in the fact that God will provide for all our needs.
If that’s true, then what is a need?
Biological needs:
Breath in your lungs
A heart that pumps
Muscles to carry us
Neurons to ignite
Blood to flow
Physical needs:
Food
Clothing
Shelter
Employment is one of the means to satisfy the physical needs stated above. By earning money, you could purchase your basic necessities. In some cases when you are unable to do so, you can seek help from a generous person.
Emotional needs:
God will give us a purpose in life. As we give Him our attention, He will see inside of us as He is our creator. He will find the things that are important to us and use them to further His kingdom’s purpose. He will provide love, comfort, contentment, companionship, security, peace, joy, encouragement, affirmation, and strength.
After knowing this, what is left that we need? Are we only now measuring how much we think we need? Can the person in extreme poverty receive the same as those who live in a mansion on the hill? To a child, it was said that apples and diamonds are one and the same.
Our needs are met every day; it’s our wants that create our anxiety. It is the wanting more than our fair share that causes us to envy or covet another person’s stature. Our needs are not within our control, and while we were designed to have these needs met, our wants are fully within our control.
As we wake this day, let us thank God that our needs have been met. Let’s walk in the confidence for He asks us to, when He says, “Fear not, for I will never leave you or forsake you.” Yet, let us be wise about our wants and keep our desires in check. Tamp down the urge to accumulate more only to feed the world’s standards. Instead, open our hearts to use these wants to meet the needs of those God puts in our paths.
One thing I know for sure: For me to live like this, I need God to help me along the way. How about you?
Let’s start our day with our eyes and hearts fixed on God.
