Busy is an external condition. It means there are many tasks to do. In this world, we all could agree we have to do a lot just to keep up.
Hurry, on the other hand, is an internal condition of the soul. It’s how we look at or approach business.
If we take time to restore our soul and lay today’s tasks before God, we can literally accomplish them peacefully. Trust God with the matters before us and their outcomes.
On the other hand, if we edge God out — EGO —not only will we find it difficult to complete our tasks, we will also feel a drain on our inner soul. The sense of hurry will be overwhelming.
It’s the tale of the turtle and the hare. The turtle took his time knowing deep inside, things would get done and he would arrive at his destination. He had time to interact with others along the way while also enjoying the scenery.
The hare, on the other hand, created for himself a sense of internal hurry, relying on his own abilities to get to the end. He raced, yet, missed everything along the journey He made errors along the way and came to the finish line exhausted and depleted — only to find the turtle already there waiting for him. He was relaxed, his feet up, told great stories about the people he met and things he saw along the way.
The turtle was rested and ready for the next day, waiting with anticipation. The hare went home tired, angry, and lonely, hating the thought of another day.
If we nurture our souls, we will not be in a hurry and will be well-prepared to be busy.
Take time today before God and restore your soul.
The day will come. How we prepare ourselves for it determines our ability to navigate through it.
Psalm 46:10
10 He says, “Be still, and know that I am God;
I will be exalted among the nations,
I will be exalted in the earth.”
