I Don’t Know

I sincerely don’t know.

I literally don’t know what is going to happen one minute from now. I concede that the less amount of time between now and the very next minute, makes it easier to say I know something.

However I don’t. I don’t know where the wind will blow, that my body won’t experience something good or bad, I don’t know the next phone call or email that could alter my course, or where the next song, book, sermon, that will guide me. The very best I can do is to eat right, exercise, pray, read, meditate, plan, in order to have an influence of the next moment. If I did every one of those things in the most perfect and Godly way, my chances will increase that my next moment could be fruitful.

But truth be told, all I’m doing is hedging my bets. Don’t believe me, just read the paper.

Killings at concerts or church services
Betrayal by a friend or spouse
The doctor visit that informs the athlete he has cancer
The pastor who falls to pornography
The 40-year employee who gets laid off
The car that crashes into you unexpectantly

God reminds us that while we don’t know at the same time He does, we are called to live in the moment and in return He will reward us with his peace. We can say we don’t know with a sense of confidence, giving up the need or right to know to Jesus the one who only truly does.
