Isaiah 41:13
13 For I am the Lord your God who takes hold of your right hand and says to you, do not fear. I will help you.
The Beatles, in 1963, wrote what became a top hit a song call “I Want to Hold Your Hand”. What is it about holding someone’s hand that makes a difference? God could have said I am right next to you rather than I will hold your hand.
I find that when I hold my wife’s hand or my grandchild’s little hand that a real connection is made that isn’t there by just standing next to them. It also says wherever I’m going or whatever I am facing they are attached to me and will experience the same. The only way out for them is to literally let go of my hand.
God actually takes the first step and reaches out for my hand and takes it in his.
Why did he do that? He sensed I was afraid. He knew I was insecure, fearful, being tempted, depressed, lonely, sad, weak, doubtful, etc. He knew I needed help.
The thing is, there are times that someone has reached out to take my hand and I withdrew it. I could be conveying my independence or my dislike or some other emotion that said no thanks. We do this with God as well. When we doubt him, we take our hand from his.
We lose that magical connection and we lose the transfer of his power in our lives.
You know perseverance actually runs out of gas over time unless it’s plugged in to it source of power.
Run long enough without water and your body will shut down. Do life long enough without God and your body will waste away.
When a person takes your hand, they are allowing you to tap into their power, their emotions, their being.
Here is the cool thing, God never lets go of our hand.
God, take my hand today. I need you.
