Deuteronomy 9:5 (NIV)
5 It is not because of your righteousness or your integrity that you are going in to take possession of their land; but on account of the wickedness of these nations, the Lord your God will drive them out before you, to accomplish what he swore to your fathers, to Abraham, Isaac and Jacob.
We always want to think Gods plans are based upon our needs. The truth is his plans are based upon what he wants to accomplish.
Jeremiah 29:11 (NIV)
11 For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.
He has reasons for his plans. Some are to grow us up and some are to further his purpose through us.
In either case he wants us to trust him, his plans are never to harm us, but they are not always about us.
We think when we go somewhere that God has us going for our purpose or benefit whereas maybe he has a plan for the others that are there, and he wants to use us to meet their needs.
When God sent Moses or Abraham out it was not their plan for themselves but rather Gods plan for his people.
What would life be like if Noah, Moses, Abraham, and others chose not to go as God instructed?
So, when times come that we feel God is calling us to do something or go somewhere may we remember it’s not always about us.
